AOR in civil field

by admin

It is useful verify the presence of artificial optical radiation in civil field. There are many, but often little know and underestimated, sources of optical radiation:

  • LED and new generation lamps;
  • Pulsed light lamps;
  • UV lamps;
  • Black light (or Wood light);
  • Vehicle lights (LED/ XENON);
  • Metal halide lamps.

In this case the control of the source is useful both for knowledge on the presence of dangers but also to limit the harmful effects that the sources can produce.

Measurements and monitoring

The assessment of respect for the values of optical radiation takes place according to rules also measurements are made by qualified technicians with professional instrumentation and methodologies.

The amount of irradiance of the source considered at risk is verified through surveys and monitoring, it is evaluated the intensity and then we inform the customer about the possible effects.
Time of measurement depends from the sources characteristics, they must be long enough to a correct assessment of the risk related to them.

Subsequently it is prepared a Technical Report for the Risk Assessment in which it is described the values observed during the measurement campaign.

The technical report describes methods and tools used, including instrument calibration documents, legal regulations with limit values, images describing the sources analysed, the values found during measurement campaigns and, in the event of exceeding the legal limits, information to reduce the detected risks.
