TECHNOLOGY TO REDUCE ENERGY COST

Thanks to new laws for reduction of energy consumption we can note a change of conception, achievement and control of building envelops. Customer needs to know the real energy performance of the purchased property.

  • SCANTEC gives its help by providing skilled technicians in accordance with UNI-EN- ISO with adequate knowledge in order to acquire the necessary data with efficiency.
  • SCANTEC uses professional equipment by recognized brands with particular accessories for any situation.
  • SCANTEC, by instrumental check, can found and solve several but common construction problems.

Energy audit is an activity that permits to know the energy consumption profile of a building, of an activity or an industrial plant, of public or private services.

SCANTEC uses non-destructive and non-invasive technologies.

Infrared thermographic surveys

The envelope of an energy efficient building must be properly insulated and not retain moisture in joints and cracks. Thermographic survey, performed with a thermal differential of 10K, can assess the correct insulation or the presence of moisture.

The combination of thermographic diagnosis and Blower Door test represents the correct practice of study for the determination of the presence of anomalous thermal losses in the building envelope.

The typical application of thermographic surveys are:

  • Identification of defects in the wall structure;
  • Display of thermal dispersion;
  • Control water and/or humidity seepage;
  • Search air tightness defects in windows and attics;
  • Scrutinizing like “Blower door test”;
  • Planning of urban renewal;
  • Localization water losses;
  • Planning of the restoration of historic building.
Air tightness proof – Blower door test

IMPERMEABILITÀ DELL’INVOLUCRO

Building envelope is efficient if it is windproof, because uncontrolled air infiltration through joints and cracks increase the heating requirements.

Impermeability can be assured with a Blower door test. With a pressure difference of 50 Pa (Pascal) the value of change air infiltration must be in the range between 1,5 and 3 V/h.

Blower door test is used to verify:

  • The estate of windows frames and subframes: locate defects;
  • The estate of wood roofs: locate leaks;
  • The good pose of the insulating sheaths;
  • The parameters of air exchange provided for the project.
Measurement of transmittance

The thermophysical data extrapolated from the technical literature can be verified / compared with the values obtained in situ using a system with heat flow.

It is possible to determine the thermal transmittance of walls with an appropriate temperature differential of 10°K between the temperature inside and outside the building.

This operation is performed by heat flow and it is used to:

  • Determine the value of thermal transmittance of inhomogeneous walls of historic buildings in the process of upgrading to the energy efficiency;
  • Verify in new buildings the real transmittance of wall compared to project data.
